After being told that a common problem of the Olympus C 50 zoom was a sticking lens cover, I made a couple of videos of the one I have on eBay to show my camera was ok. I offered to email these videos to anyone interested. Since they were hi-res they were very big so I decided to make some lo-res videos opening and closing the cover very fast (no battery in the camera so that the lens didn’t come out), and at normal speed showing the lens extending and retracting. While making this second set of videos I MANAGED TO GET THE COVER TO STICK. If you are hashy bashy, and press the end of the lens cover furthest from the lens into the camera body while opening it fast, you will get it to stick. You then need to stop pressing the cover into the body and you can continue to open it. You can do the same when closing the cover. (hashy bashy = rough)

In normal use, the cover does not stick.  When I open the lens I always press the bit of the cover that is directly over the lens and it never sticks.

Now I know this will put people off but I’ve always been honest with my eBay selling and I’m not going to change that now for a few quid. If you have the winning bid on this camera, and don’t think you got value for money, you can return it to me for a full refund including postage – I can’t do better than that.
